The suction nozzle is the key item developed for early gold dredges and is used to this day because of its self-priming superior shallow water performance. Since it is so well suited to shallow water operation it is most often used on small gold dredges for sniping shallow bedrock. The pipe end slides into the working end of the suction hose and is clamped in place. The pressure hose intake doubles as a handle and the angled tip aims in the proper direction to work while to hose is flat on the bottom, making handling and maneuverability easier than a standard straight nozzle tip. All suction nozzles employ reduced intake orifices to help reduce clogging. Constructed of long wearing plated steel and available starting at 1.5″ all the way up to 4″ models.
