Snuffer bottles are an essential gold panning tool that every prospector should have in their kit. A snuffer bottle is like a small vacuum cleaner – squeeze the bottle and release to create the suction. This is far more efficient for collecting small gold than trying to pick tiny bits piece by piece with tweezers. The tube inserted into the bottle collects the gold while at the same time preventing it from escaping back out of the bottle. Your gold will remain safely in the bottle until you unscrew the cap and dump it out. You can also pull the tube out of the cap and when you upend the bottle the cap is now a funnel for putting the contents into a gold vial. The Keene Gold Snuffer Bottle can be a real aid for people new to panning as they often have difficulty getting the last small amounts of sand of of a pan without losing gold. Simply pan down and swish the remaining material around until the gold is away from any sand, then suck it up with the snuffer bottle. Even if you suck up a little sand, you can eliminate nearly all of it by sucking up the gold, dumping out the pan, and then emptying the contents of the snuffer bottle back into the pan. Repeat one last time to eliminate any bits of sand that were accidently sucked up the first time, ending up with 100% clean gold.
